SBS 2008 Slow
Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008 may be slow, especially when logged into the console or via Remote Desktop.
This may occur if the monitoring database has a large number of entries. This is exacerbated by the fact that the database in its default configuration is missing some indexes which means lookups by the various management consoles are very slow. This may be corrected as follows:
The process purges the database, configures it for a smaller self-purge window, and adds some indexes. When completed, the server should be immediately more responsive.
Note that the process will cause the transaction log to expand significantly. This can be shrunk manually, after which the database and the log should be much smaller.
