Configuring Oasis 8.3 & Dimaxis 4.4 on 64-bit Windows

Note: This article is intended for a highly-technical audience.

When using Oasis 8.3 and Dimaxis 4.4 on 64-bit Windows, there are two issues:

  1. The Solid 4.1 ODBC driver doesn't work, which prevents Dimaxis from operating.

This is caused by the Solid 4.1 ODBC driver setup program not recognising 64-bit Windows properly. The required files are not copied to the Windows system folder.

  2. Oasis 8.3 expects the Dimaxis program to reside in C:\Program Files.

By default, when installing a 32-bit program, Windows redirects the program files to C:\Program Files (x86) instead of the usual C:\Program Files.

This may be resolved as follows:

  1. Locate the following files on another system (or the program setup CD): sacw3241.dll, snpw3241.dll, socw3241.dll, sosw3241.dll, ssmw3241.dll and stcw3241.dll and copy them to C:\Windows\SysWow64. No further setup or registration is required.

  2. Create a junction point in C:\Program Files using Sysinternals' Junction utility:

    Junction "C:\Program Files\Planmeca" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Planmeca"
