iTunes Prompts to ‘Set Up’ or ‘Restore’ an iPad/iPhone

If you set up an iPad or iPhone in standalone mode, that is, without attaching to a PC, and you subsequently attach the device to a PC, iTunes will display “Welcome to Your New iPad/iPhone” and offer two options to proceed: Set Up As New iPad or Restore from this backup.

In this instance, it is fine to choose Set Up As New iPad. This simply takes you to the main screen where you can set sync options.
