Outlook: Messages Imported from IMAP Account Not Visible

If you import messages from an IMAP mailbox into a Microsoft Exchange/Office 365 hosted mailbox, the messages may not appear in Microsoft Outlook.

This occurs because the messages retain some IMAP properties and Outlook by default does not show them.

To restore their visibility:

  1. In Outlook, click View from the ribbon.

  2. Click Change View.

  3. Click IMAP Messages.

    (The messages should appear in the selected folder.)

  4. Click Change View.

  5. Click Apply Current View to Other Mail Folders.

  6. Select the top folder of the mailbox and then select Apply view to subfolders.

  7. Click OK.
