Windows Reboots on Startup, Failing On ACPITABL.DAT

On startup, Microsoft Windows immediately reboots just as the first splash screen appears, and becomes stuck in a reboot cycle.

On using F8 to start Windows in Safe Mode or a logged boot, it appears the problem is occurring at ACPITABL.DAT.

This may happen if the CMOS battery in the system is failing. Replace the CMOS battery.

A workaround which may allow the system to boot properly is to enter the BIOS settings, save the settings and let the system do a warm boot. If that doesn't help, change a setting in the BIOS such as the date and then reboot.
