Windows 8: Using The Metro Sidebar & Start Menu
The classic Start Menu has been removed from Windows 8 but there is a useful menu containing common commands. Move the mouse to the bottom, left-most part of the screen. A “start” icon will appear:
Right-click in the icon and a menu with various system tools will appear:
The Metro Sidebar is a hidden panel of functions to configure your PC. To access the Sidebar, move the mouse cursor to the very bottom-right corner of the screen:
Click the “cog” icon, which shows the Sidebar:
